COMBINING RECOVERY (Heart)
AND SPIRITUALITY (Soul)
WITHIN JUDAISM
WEEKLY
NEWSLETTER –
12/26/07
Hi All,
We are full steam ahead for
our Spiritual Day with Rabbi
Abe, scheduled for Sunday,
January 6, 2008. We have the
highest amount of
pre-registrations ever for
an event and this promises
to be a wonderful, warm
experience. We even had
people competing for the
opportunity (and
privilege) of driving Rabbi
Abe to and from the event.
Thankfully, we have both
drivers for both ways. I
would like to think all
those who put in their
requests for this service.
We are looking forward to a
very special day.
Please help us spread the
word!!! This is our only
means of communications.
I look forward to meeting
newcomers to our events as
well as looking forward to
seeing old friends. You can
register by simply filling
out the attached flyer and
either sending it back to me
by email or regular mail or
you can even call me
directly at 718-261-4049 and
I will register you over the
phone. Once registered, I
will send you a confirmation
by email. It's that simple.
Or, visit or website for
more information at:
www.rodfeishalom.org

Our
weekly call-in meeting
continues this Wednesday
night, from 9:00 PM – 10:00
PM EDT, for the meeting and
½ hour or so afterwards for
fellowship. To join us,
simply dial 218-486-1300 and
enter the participant bridge
code of: 933051.
Please join us and share
your wisdom and experience.
There have been a few
problems with people being
able to dial in the required
participation code, but this
past week it seems the
problems may have been
resolved.
Please note: If you have
unlimited long distance this
is a FREE call!!
¨
We tried starting an
anniversary calendar to wish
our members happy
anniversary but for some
reason the idea did not go
over well. Two people sent
us their information. I
guess the time for this
calendar idea is not quite
ready yet. So, we are going
to put this on hiatus for a
different time. Thank you to
those two people who did
sign up.

Midwest Retreat:
We are pleased to officially announce that
we will be putting on our Spiritual Retreat
Recovery Weekend at the Perlstein Retreat
Center in Lake Delton , WI (about 2 hours
outside of Chicago)The food is Glatt Kosher
and under the supervision of the CRC. The
event will take place (G-d Willing) from
March 7 – March 9, 2008, and promises to be
very exciting and wonderful. If the Florida
retreat is any indication what this event
will bring – you can look forward to a warm
wonderful, exciting, growth-filled weekend
in a safe environment.
We have already received inquiries about
transportation to the event, so here's the
scoop: Getting to Chicago is totally on you
(sorry, but we haven't gone into the free
travel business, yet! The best airport to
fly into is Midway. The location is
approximately 2 hours west of Chicago in
Lake Delton, Wisconsin. To get there you
will need to drive or take public
transportation. If we get enough inquiries,
we will attempt to hire a bus. I am told
that we will need a minimum of 35 people. As
we get a little closer I will keep you
informed as to the feasibility and cost.
I am also pleased to announce that we will
be able to accommodate triples for this
event and therefore create a lower room
rate. Overall, this event will be limited to
a maximum of 125 people. This way we will be
able to maintain a small and intimate event.
So, since space is limited, register early!!

Spiritual Thought(s) for the
Week
:
"If there were in the world
today any large number of
people who desired their own
happiness more than they
desired the unhappiness of
others, we could have
paradise in a few years." -
Bertrand Russell
"The purpose of miracles is
to teach us to see the
miraculous everywhere."

New feature: Recovery joke
of the week
: Ok, as a continued attempt
to bring a little smile and
laughter I am going to
continue a little tongue
in-cheek-humor by publishing
a joke here and there.
Although I know that what is
funny to one person is not
to another, please be
advised that I am doing this
all in good humor and NOT to
make fun of or criticize
anyone, their programs,
their beliefs, age, sex or
whatever – com'on I wanna
have a good time here!!!
Moshe, the owner of a small
Kosher New York deli, was
being questioned by an IRS
agent about his tax return.
He had reported a net profit
of $80,000 for the year.
"Why don't you people leave
me alone?" the deli owner
said. "I work like a dog,
everyone in my family helps
out, and the place is only
closed three days a year.
And you want to know how I
made $80,000?"
"It's not your income that
bothers us," the agent said.
"It's these travel
deductions. You listed ten
trips to
Israel for you and your
wife."
"Oh, that?" the owner said
smiling. "Well... we also
deliver."

Rhoda and Irwin, a retired
couple living in Boca Raton,
are getting ready to go out
to dinner.
Rhoda says, "Irwin, darling,
do you want me to wear this
Chanel suit or the Gucci?"
Irwin says, "Do I care?"
A few minutes later Rhoda
says, "Irwin, should I wear
my Cartier watch or my
Rolex?"
Irwin says, "Who cares?"
A few more minutes pass and
Rhoda says, "Irwin, love,
shall I wear my five-carat
pear diamond ring or my
six-carat round diamond ring
with the baguettes?"
Irwin says, "Rhoda, I really
don't care what you wear,
but if you don't move your
tuchas, we're going to miss
the Early Bird Special.
(With thanks to Eli)

PS - Oh yeah, just a
reminder again, Gmail kinda
messes up the format of
these Word documents that we
spent a long time preparing
with pretty little fonts and
pictures. So, if you see a
kind of misaligned document
without pictures, it is
probably due to Gmail.
Sorry.
Your
smile counts. The more smiles you share, the more we
donate.
