Snippets of Recovery: It is now 87 days since I have had wheat, sweets, sweeteners, meat, dairy or coffee. I am finding it a lot easier to get through the day without the food cravings. I am having problems though with my reactions to things. I seem to be manic / depressive about my stuff. One day I am peaceful and calm and the next day I am totally nuts. My sponsor keeps telling mew to pray and keep saying the serenity prayer. So, I have!! And amazingly so, it seems to help. Damn, you mean this stuff works???

Our Tefillin Program
We have given away yet another pair of Tefillin to a qualified applicant. I am still reeling in awe of the things that G-d allows us to do. 3) Dear Arnie,
Thank you for your hard work to reach out to Jews in recovery. I was unable to attend the January Spiritual Day, but I am grateful to have the CD's. Monday I came home tired and in pain after having surgery and it was healing to hear Rabbi Twerski's voice. (I was fortunate to have met Dr. Twerski when I was newly sober in my early 20's and was fearful of walking into churches.). I really needed to hear Rabbi Twerski Monday when I was hurting, so... 5) More Snippets in Recovery: My old gambling life has begun to catch up to me, again. It's now about 75 days since I last placed a bet and my life is becoming peaceful I am not running looking for action. I actually have spent a few pleasant Sundays with the kids and grandkids. But now, the casinos want their money back from the markers I was and am still unable to pay. Pressure relief has not stopped them from trying to collect and the pressure is tremendous and yesterday I literally wanted to die. I just figure it will be easier than going through all this and end up being broker than I am now. I cried and prayed and prayed some more. I did NOT do anything destructive to myself!!! And today, I reached an agreement with one of the casinos with the second one coming soon. Maybe I will be able to sleep tonight.
6) MEETINGS!! MEETINGS!! MEETINGS!!!
Our Email Discussion Group. Our email Listserv discussion group for all those recovering from addiction and their family members is open for all to share their experience, strength, hope and Spirituality with other Jews in recovery. There are no requirements to be a part of the discussion, as long as postings meet the guidelines that have been established. Just send your name, email address and a short paragraph introducing yourself to rebnahum@rodfeishalom.org. We will then send you a return email with instructions on how to sign into the group and begin receiving messages from all the discussion contributors. It's another way to become a part of our family and rid you of some of those isolation tendencies.
>We have a wonderful, intimate call-in meeting on Wednesday nights. Although the group is small, the sharing is deep and heartfelt. Those joining us leave the meeting with a sense of gratitude, free-ness and of us being family.

9) UPCOMING EVENTS IN THE PLANNING STAGES:
a) We are working at a December date for our annual spiritual retreat weekend in Florida that we hope we can couple with a three day package to the one of the theme parks. We have already been assured by the hotel that if we can guarantee a 5 day room rental they will give us very reasonable rate to make the retreat as well as a three day vacation very affordable. Details to follow.
b) Yearly Succah Recovery Event – October, 2008.
