I hope
everyone had an easy and meaningful
Holiday season.
1) Last
Monday night's Succah event was a tremendous success
with over 40 people joining us for a combined joint
program between REFJIR and JACS
.
Besides the great food, the relaxed atmosphere and the
fellowship, the sharing was heartfelt and amazing with
all having a great time.
2) Our
weekly call-in meeting is still happening every week.
Tonight we had Rabbi Tamar as a guest speaker. Her
sharing was enlightening and touching, as usual. Her
heart shines and lights a path for all.
To join us,
simply dial 218-486-1300 and enter the participant
bridge code of: 933051. The meeting goes from
8:00 PM – 9:00 PM , eastern time. Also, if you have free
or unlimited long distance the call is FREE!! If not,
there will be a charge associated with the call. Some of
our other members have suggested buying calling cards to
help contain any costs involved.
We have been asked to change the time of the meeting
from 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM to either 8:30 – 9:30
or 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM
eastern time. Please send us your feedback in regards to
this so we can hear what works best for all. You can
simply reply to this email with your thoughts.
3) The cruise
has filled up way past our expectations with another 2 more
people signing up this over the past week. Although the time
limit for booking the cruise is now past and our cabin
allocation has expired, THERE IS STILL GOOD NEWS !!!!
-- the cruise line itself still has cabins available AND YOU
CAN STILL JOIN US FOR A GREAT TIME. If you wish to book
the cruise, please call our exclusive travel agent. The way
this will now work is that the travel agent will attempt to
get cabins from the cruise line's ship's inventory (be
aware!!! this has nothing to do with us or the travel agent
– this is from the cruise line). There will be an additional
charge of above the original stated cost (approximately $60
per person) depending on the availability at time of the
booking request The rate, as mentioned, is an all-inclusive
rate that includes the cruise, our on-board recovery event,
Glatt Kosher gourmet meals (for those who wish to order),
transfers, taxes, travel insurance and all the wonderful
entertainment cruise ships offer!!!! Flyer is attached.

only those booking with our agent will be allowed to attend
the on-board recovery event).
4) Our Florida
spiritual retreat weekend event is booked and scheduled for
the weekend of November 30, 2007 through December 2, 2007 in
sunny Sunrise , Florida. It will be a spiritual retreat
recovery weekend event that will include Jews of all
denominations and for all 12 step programs. I have attached
the flyer for that event. You can even save some money if
you register early!!!!!

6) People keep
asking me who and what REFJIR is and who and what South
Florida JACS is and who and what Rodfei Shalom is. I'd like
to explain a little to clear up any confusion – which there
definitely is.
For all of you
who don't know, I was President of JACS for seven years. It
was a great privilege to be a part of JACS and I not only
learned a tremendous amount, it shaped my recovery in many
ways. After stepping down, I felt a void, a hole in the pit
of my stomach, that I wanted and needed filled. So, based on
my past recovery work I started REFJIR – a recovery based
organization to put on recovery events for Jews of all
denominations, in all 12 step programs. I wanted (and need)
to work with others in recovery and I wanted to have fun
while doing some of the events.
While planning
one of the events, I spoke to Rabbi Nahum Simon of South
Florida JACS and we ended up agreeing to join with each
other and we started Rodfei Shalom Fellowship, Inc.
Actually, the organization was an organization that Reb
Nahum created years ago and we chose to use that as our
combined organization.
So, when you
see different names on the flyers, this explains why and
what you are seeing.
